Privacy Policy

PetPersona respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the control you have over your data.

In short: we collect only what the app needs to work, your pet photos live in private storage tied to your account, we never sell your personal data, and you can delete everything at any time.

What we collect

  • Account info — your email address, used to sign you in and secure your account. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the basic profile (such as email and name) you approve.
  • Pet details — the name, type, age and notes you add for each pet.
  • Photos — any pet images you choose to upload, used to generate cartoon avatars.
  • Messages — the conversations you have with your pet's persona.
  • Voice messages — if you use hold-to-talk in chat, the audio you record is sent to our speech provider to transcribe it and to speak the reply back. Separately, the "pet sound" reading feature analyzes audio entirely on your device — that audio is not uploaded.
  • Pet memories — to make replies feel personal, the app may save short facts your pet "remembers" (for example a favorite toy or an allergy) that it derives from your conversations. You can view and manage these in the app.
  • Care reminders — the feeding, medication, walk and vet reminders you create.
  • Diagnostics — crash and performance reports, with no personal identifiers attached, used only if enabled to help us fix bugs.

How we use it

We use your data only to provide and improve the app: signing you in, generating your pet's avatar and replies, transcribing and voicing your in-chat voice messages, reading pet sounds on your device, storing your pets, memories and reminders, and enforcing fair-use limits. We do not sell your personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your photos or messages to train our own models.

AI processing & service providers

We use a small set of processors solely to run the app's features. Each receives only what's needed to produce a result and return it to you; our processing keys are held server-side and are never exposed in the app:

  • Supabase — our database and private file storage (your account, pets, messages, memories, reminders and photos).
  • OpenAI — generates conversation replies, transcribes and voices your in-chat voice messages, turns your one-sentence requests into reminders, and powers the knowledge search behind replies.
  • fal.ai — turns your pet's photo into a cartoon avatar.
  • Replicate — checks that a generated avatar still resembles your pet (an image-similarity check on the avatar and your source photo).
  • Sentry — crash and performance diagnostics, configured to attach no personal identifiers (used only if enabled).
  • Apple & RevenueCat — process subscription purchases; we receive only your subscription status, never your card details.

Where it's stored

Your data is stored securely with our infrastructure provider (Supabase). Photos are kept in private storage that is accessible only through your authenticated account. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections.

Your choices and rights

You stay in control of your data:

  • Delete everything in-app — go to Settings → Delete all my data to permanently remove your account, pets, photos and messages.
  • Export or deletion by request — email us and we'll help you export or erase your data.
  • We honor applicable privacy rights, including those under the GDPR (EEA/UK) and CCPA (California).

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your data or account, we remove it from our active systems, and from backups within a reasonable rotation period.

Children

PetPersona is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Availability

PetPersona is offered to users in English-speaking and other developed markets. It is not offered to, or directed at, users in mainland China.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
